AROUND THE WORLD

IN 12 SONGS

'Around the World in 12 Songs' is a collaboration between the Egyptian soprano Fatma Said and the Amatis (Piano) Trio. Their collaboration was first conceived when they met as part of the BBC New Generation Artists scheme. They wished to explore their flexibility as musicians and to celebrate the music they love, music that traditionally they did not have the opportunity to perform. This project takes the audience on a journey around the world from Bach to The Beatles, spanning 5 continents and 11 different countries. The songs are arranged to capture the essence of each unique culture they explore.

Fatma Said

“I feel so fortunate to work with all kinds of musicians from across the world, and to perform music by so many composers from all over world. The thing that connects us is music. It is a commonality, and I love that in listening to live music, we in a way create a moment of peace together.” - Fatma Said
